1)What is shape function?
The shape function is the function which interpolates the solution between the discrete values obtained at the mesh nodes.
2)Properties of global stiffness matrix [k]
- Global stiffness matrix which we come across FEA is a symmetric banded matrix.
- Global stiffness matrix is formed with the topology.
- Global stiffness matrix is singular.
- The sum of elements in any two rows or columns is equal to zero.
- The size of global stiffness matrix determines the storage required for matrix element.
